Chafa is a command-line utility and C library for converting image data, including animated GIFs, into terminal graphics such as ANSI/Unicode character art. It supports output for a range of devices and terminal emulators, including terminals using formats such as Sixel, Kitty graphics, and iTerm2. The library provides a documented public API, while the command-line frontend can be built from source or installed through distribution packages. Both are licensed under LGPLv3 or later.
