AI product
Chroma is open-source search infrastructure and a database for AI applications, available as locally run software and as a managed cloud service. It supports vector search for semantic similarity, lexical search using BM25 and SPLADE, full-text search, trigram and regular-expression search, and metadata filtering. Its indexes and data are built on object storage, with query-aware caching and automatic data tiering across memory, SSD, and object storage. Chroma provides Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Rust interfaces, a command-line interface, collection forking, dataset versioning, A/B testing, and rollout support. The open-source project is distributed under the Apache 2.0 license.
