Codex mobile app

Codex Remote is a remote-access capability associated with Codex that lets ChatGPT mobile connect to a laptop or remote server and execute commands there.

Mobile Dev is a Codex plugin for developing and debugging Android and iOS applications alongside a Codex desktop chat. It supports Expo, React Native, SwiftUI, and other native mobile projects, and can stream iOS simulators, Android emulators, and connected devices into a device panel. The plugin provides device selection and booting, taps, drags, text input, accessibility inspection, screen or element annotations, and MCP-based app control. It combines iOS unified logs, Android logcat, and Metro messages; logs can be searched, filtered, scoped to the foreground app, and sent to chat with an error stack trace. Its performance tools record CPU and memory activity, thread charts, display FPS, Android frame-pacing and jank statistics, and selected interaction ranges for comparison and analysis in Codex. The prebuilt distribution targets Codex desktop on Apple Silicon Macs and includes bundled runtimes. It is installed through Codex's plugin marketplace and requires the relevant Xcode, Android SDK, simulator, emulator, or device tooling. The repository is maintained by Callstack's incubator organization.

Codex-X is a cross-platform desktop management tool for OpenAI Codex Desktop and Codex CLI. It provides a visual interface for managing prompt templates, switching between official login profiles and third-party API providers, organizing and repairing local sessions, managing Skills and MCP servers, and inspecting or editing Codex TOML and JSON configuration files. The application can import or edit Markdown prompts, append or replace existing prompt content with automatic backups, test provider endpoints and discover models, import providers from cc-switch, group sessions by project, detect or repair provider inconsistencies, and permanently delete selected sessions from Codex storage. It also previews MCP servers, installs Skills from ZIP files, enables or disables individual extensions, tracks local token usage by date and model, and attributes subagent usage to its main conversation. Codex-X is built as a Tauri 2 desktop application with a React, TypeScript, and Vite frontend, a Rust backend, and SQLite local storage. It provides macOS, Windows, and Linux packages, including Windows portable distribution, and is released under the MIT License.

OpenAI Codex is an AI coding agent offered as a local command-line tool, IDE integration, desktop app, and cloud-based agent. The Codex CLI runs locally on a computer and can be installed on macOS, Linux, or Windows; the repository also directs users to integrations for VS Code, Cursor, and Windsurf, and to the Codex app and Codex Web. The videos describe Codex as an agent for building applications, websites, automations, and long-running software projects. Its workflows can use supplied context such as Slack conversations, repository history, images, memory, plugins, and skills; drive browsers and desktop applications through computer use; and coordinate work with goals, subagents, threads, hooks, audits, and automations. The videos also describe Codex App Server as an open-source protocol for embedding Codex in other products. The repository provides installation through shell or PowerShell installers, npm, Homebrew, or downloadable releases. Users can sign in with a ChatGPT plan or configure an API key. The repository is licensed under Apache-2.0.

Codex iOS Assistant is an open-source system for controlling and inspecting an iPhone from Codex running on a Mac. Its `iphone` CLI sends private commands through iMessage to an iOS Shortcut; the Shortcut performs native iOS actions and returns device context through an authenticated HTTPS response routed via Cloudflare Tunnel to a receiver on the Mac. A per-user macOS LaunchAgent runs the Messages sender outside the Codex sandbox over a Unix socket. The system can read visible screen text, save screenshots, access or replace the clipboard, manage alarms, open specified apps, control timers, the flashlight, and Low Power Mode, place calls, and read Mac Contacts and the Mac Messages database. Message composition creates a draft for review; the CLI does not send ordinary messages, make purchases, install apps, order food, or request rides. It requires macOS 14 or newer, Python 3.11 or newer, Messages, Xcode Command Line Tools, an iPhone reachable at a configured iMessage address, iCloud sync for Shortcuts, and a Cloudflare-managed domain. Installation uses the repository scripts and creates an iOS Shortcut containing 95 native Shortcuts actions, with a manually configured iPhone message automation.
