CookTrace

CookTrace is a self-hosted recipe, pantry, meal-planning, and cooking tracker maintained by TraceApps. It runs as a single Docker container with a browser PWA and native Android app, storing data on the user's hardware without accounts on external services, telemetry, cloud sync, or subscriptions. It supports recipe imports from URLs, files, photos, and bulk Mealie, Paprika, or Tandoor archives; live fraction-aware ingredient scaling; step-by-step cooking mode; cook logging; pantry management with barcode scanning; meal planning; and shopping-list generation that skips stocked items and deduplicates ingredients across recipes. Optional Trace AI can read and modify recipes, pantry data, cook diaries, and shopping lists through tools backed by supported model providers, while an opt-in MCP server exposes selected recipe and planning data to external AI agents. The project is open source under AGPL-3.0 and is distributed through Docker registries, with SQLite and uploaded files persisted through host-mounted volumes.

  • A self-hosted kitchen app for your recipes, pantry, and meal plans with no account and no telemetry. Import a recipe from a link, a photo, or a Mealie or Paprika export, scale it live, cook in step-by-step mode, scan pantry barcodes, and let weekly planning build the shopping list for you.
