drydock

drydock is a Rust terminal user-interface dashboard for monitoring the state of Git repositories across configured directories. It reports uncommitted changes, unpushed commits across all local branches, conflicts and unfinished merge or rebase operations, and release status based on tags, including commits or changes made after the latest tag. The dashboard uses color-coded states, supports filtering by repository activity and condition, fuzzy search, sorting, repository details, and actions such as fetching, opening an editor or terminal, and viewing the remote. It runs on macOS and Linux and can be installed with Homebrew, Cargo, or from source.

What drydock is used for

2 uses taken from transcripts — each links to the moment in the video.

  • A tool that scans every Git checkout on a disk to show uncommitted files, unpushed commits on any branch, and commits past the last tag. Color-coded state makes repository work waiting to be done easy to scan.

  • A container-monitoring tool that watches 23 registries for image updates and sends notifications. Applying updates is opt-in, and it supports numerous notification and action providers while using a socket proxy and guarded DNS resolution.
