findphone

findphone is a macOS command-line tool for locating a nearby Bluetooth device by tracking signal strength when Find My is unavailable. It provides a survey mode for nearby Apple handhelds, a hunt mode for following a named device, and a listing mode for paired devices. An optional sound mode emits clicks that become more frequent as the smoothed signal strengthens, allowing a user to search by ear. The tool reads measurements from a connected BLE GATT link, passively observed BLE advertisements, or macOS Bluetooth data for paired devices, and reports signal strength in dBm as a coarse distance indicator. It is distributed as an unsigned universal arm64/x86_64 binary or can be built from Swift, requires macOS 13 or later, and has no dependencies.
