God's Eye View

God's Eye View is an open-source browser application by Bilawal Sidhu for exploring public geospatial data on a photorealistic 3D globe. It displays live or periodically updated aircraft, ships, satellites, earthquakes, traffic, public cameras, radio stations, bikeshare availability, active fires, space missions, mapped installations, and bundled infrastructure datasets, while labeling delayed, simulated, estimated, reconstructed, or unavailable data states.

The application uses CesiumJS, Vite, vanilla JavaScript, Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles, and data-provider proxies. It interpolates between choppy tracking updates, propagates satellite positions with SGP4, projects entity headings in screen space, and adjusts entity heights against terrain and a geoid-aware vertical datum. Users can track entities, enter cockpit views, draw annotations and routes, switch sensor-style visual treatments, inspect detection overlays, create camera tours, and serialize globe state into share links.

An optional OpenAI Realtime API voice agent provides scene-aware questions and commands through 28 tools, including camera control, map annotation, layer operation, entity interrogation, routing, and cinematic scene staging. The project runs locally with Node.js and requires a Google Maps API key for the photorealistic globe; optional keys enable services such as voice, live vessel data, active fires, and real traffic. It is released under the MIT License, with individual data sources subject to their own terms, and is described as an evolving exploratory client rather than a hardened production or safety-critical system.
