Immersive Translate

WhaleRead is a local-first macOS workspace for translating and reading TXT, Markdown, and EPUB books. It displays the source and translation side by side, preserves reading position, bookmarks, notes, review history, EPUB chapters, images, and styling, and supports switching between source, translation, and bilingual views. Book translation runs on-device with Hy-MT2 7B; the page also describes a user-controlled self-hosted 30B route, which is not included in the public download. Its review workflow keeps model suggestions separate from the book: users can highlight a passage, inspect the source evidence and model reasoning, edit or discard a suggestion, and apply a revision only after confirmation. Ask AI can answer questions about selected passages through a compatible endpoint configured by the user, with the prepared context shown before sending and answers saved as reading notes without automatically changing the book. The public preview is for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 13 or later. The page says the preview is ad-hoc signed and not yet notarised by Apple, and that the 7B model is downloaded separately.

OCR It is a Chrome and Firefox browser extension for extracting text from paginated document viewers, including scanned books, slide decks, PDFs, and embedded readers where text selection is unavailable. Users select a screen region, capture it with a hotkey, and append the locally generated OCR result to an ordered transcript; an automatic mode captures each page, advances the viewer, and stops when text repeats, paging fails, OCR fails, or a page limit is reached. OCR runs offline through a bundled Tesseract build without outbound requests, API calls, or image uploads. The extension crops, optionally enlarges, and converts the visible region to grayscale, queues OCR jobs serially, stores page text and verification thumbnails, flags consecutive duplicate pages, and exports the transcript as copied text or a TXT file with page separators. Page turning can use a picked screen point or keyboard event, including controls inside supported frames and shadow roots. It uses narrowly scoped browser permissions, relying on activeTab for single captures and requesting an additional site grant for automatic runs that persist across page loads or turn pages inside cross-origin iframes.

General Translation is an open-source, full-stack internationalization and localization toolkit for React applications and other frameworks. It translates complete React components through a simple `<T>` wrapper rather than requiring content to be refactored into translation dictionaries, and supports text, variables, and currencies. The suite includes packages for Next.js, React, Vue, JavaScript, continuous localization, build integration, Sanity Studio, and an MCP server, as well as Locadex, an AI agent for automating internationalization in complex codebases. Projects can be initialized with `npx gt@latest` and connected to the service with an API key.

Prompt Bridge is a Chrome extension that carries full AI conversation context across major AI platforms, enabling users to continue threads when switching between services. It is offered as a free browser extension.
