Ming Voice is a local, real-time speech-to-speech voice assistant for AMD Radeon GPUs, with experimental NVIDIA support, running on Linux or Windows with WSL2. It uses inclusionAI's Ming-3.0-audio-tiny model, Silero VAD, Smart Turn v3 turn detection, speculative generation with rollback, echo-aware interruption handling, and streaming speech synthesis. The server communicates with a browser or client over WebSockets, accepts 16 kHz PCM audio, and returns 44.1 kHz audio; fused Triton and HIP-graph paths are used to reduce inference latency on supported GPUs.
The assistant supports hands-free, push-to-talk, and wake-word operation, voice cloning from a short sample, conversation persistence, English and Chinese, and phone access over HTTPS on a home network. Optional tools provide web search, weather, calculation, timers, reminders, lists, memory, Home Assistant control, Jellyfin playback, and hand-off to a Hermes Agent. Risky smart-home actions require confirmation by default, and the project states that audio remains on the local machine while enabled search and weather tools send only the relevant query data to their external services.
Ming Voice also exposes an OpenAI-compatible local API for text-to-speech, transcription, and chat with audio input and output. The repository provides installers for Linux and Windows, downloads the model separately, requires a GPU with at least 16 GB of VRAM, and is licensed under the MIT license.
