News Dashboard

News Dashboard is a self-hosted technical-news inbox and AI research desk that aggregates curated RSS and Atom feeds, GitHub release feeds, Hacker News and GitHub trending feeds, and custom scraped sources into curated feeds and a ranked Today Feed. Articles can be marked new, read, saved, skipped, archived, starred, or snoozed; the application also provides source-health monitoring, ingestion history, dashboard statistics, search, reading history, a knowledge graph, and saved learning artifacts.

Overview

When an AI provider is configured, it generates personalized briefings, article takeaways, context, and perspectives, and answers cited follow-up questions grounded in the collected corpus. It supports embeddings, configurable OpenAI-compatible providers, and a Google Reader-compatible synchronization API for third-party RSS clients.

The application uses a Python and FastAPI backend with APScheduler, LangChain, and LangGraph; a React, TypeScript, Vite, and TanStack Query frontend; and PostgreSQL with the pgvector extension. It supports local password authentication, optional Keycloak login, and deployment through Docker, Helm, and GitHub Actions on the operator’s own infrastructure, with configuration for the database, authentication, and AI provider.
