Pele is a small, synchronous open-source JavaScript library that renders Mermaid diagrams to SVG without runtime dependencies. It supports every diagram type built into Mermaid 12.1.0, exposes render() for generating SVG and mount() for rendering into a browser element, and can load individual diagram types or use lazy rendering to reduce the initial bundle. It uses CSS variables for colors and fonts, escapes diagram text, filters links and styles, and limits source and output size when handling untrusted diagrams. Pele is distributed through npm and a CDN under the MIT license.
