Scion

Scion is Anthropic's in-house version-control system, built to replace Git for the company's large monorepo. It uses always-online agent clients, server-side commits, sparse or virtualized checkouts, and storage split between Spanner and blob storage. The system is designed to scale horizontally and, according to Anthropic's account, uses substantially less infrastructure than its previous Git-mirroring setup.

  • Anthropic's in-house version control system, built to replace Git for their huge monorepo. It's designed around always-online agent clients: commits happen server-side, checkouts are sparse or virtualized, data lives in Spanner and blob storage, and it's horizontally scalable with 200x smaller infrastructure than their previous git mirroring setup.
