Shiki (私記) is a Rust terminal user-interface note-taking application. It organizes Markdown notes into notebooks, with each notebook stored as an independent Git repository, and provides a responsive three-pane, Yazi-style navigation layout with nested folders, optional frontmatter, inline or external editing, themes, and global or notebook-scoped fuzzy search.
Its per-note history is derived from Git commits: users can browse commits that changed a specific note and revert from within the TUI. The application also supports manual or automatic notebook synchronization and push/pull operations, configurable per-notebook paths and policies, remappable keybindings, mouse selection in rendered previews with OSC 52 clipboard copying, and live theme previews. The repository documents 37 built-in themes and support for using existing note directories, including an Obsidian vault, without migration or duplicated files.
