Tusk is a native, keyboard-driven database client for macOS, Windows, and Linux, written in Rust with the GPUI framework. It connects to databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, SQL Server, Oracle, ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra, and DynamoDB, and provides a virtualized GPU-rendered data grid, editable tables, schema and DDL tools, SQL editing with language-server completions, query history, exports, backups, SSH tunnels, and connection imports.
Its AI assistant reads the relevant table schema, writes a SQL query into a new tab, and explains its assumptions; it does not execute SQL on its own. Tusk can connect the assistant to local agents such as Claude, Codex, or Gemini CLI through the Agent Client Protocol, while its built-in MCP server gives those agents access to an open connection. The application stores credentials in the operating system's credential store and states that it has no account requirement or telemetry.
Tusk is free and open source. It is distributed through signed macOS releases and Homebrew, Windows archives, and Linux packages, with source builds available through Cargo. The repository specifies macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon, Windows 10 or 11, and Linux on a Wayland desktop, with Xwayland supported as a fallback.
