Tool Open source
TV Detox is an open-source Android TV cleanup tool and replacement home screen by Ansub Khan. Its install script connects to a television over ADB, installs a small ad-free launcher showing selected apps, HDMI inputs and a clock, and can disable selected bloatware, advertisements, sponsored rows and animations without uninstalling the apps. It can be operated manually or with a Claude Code or Codex prompt that inventories applications, asks for approval before changes, records the disabled packages and checks the TV after restarting. The included undo.sh script restores the home screen and re-enables the changes; check.sh and candidates.sh help inspect the device and identify applications. The launcher is implemented in plain Java without external libraries or Gradle and uses about 30 MB of RAM according to the repository. It targets Android TV and Google TV devices, with device-specific limitations and warnings, and is released under the MIT License.
