Wasp (Web Application Specification) is an open-source, Rails-like full-stack framework for React, Node.js, and Prisma. Developers describe an application's high-level structure in a declarative `main.wasp.ts` specification and implement custom logic in React, Node.js, and Prisma files; the Wasp compiler then generates the frontend, backend, and deployment source. Built-in features include authentication, client-server RPC, background jobs, email sending, end-to-end type safety, and single-command deployment. Its high-level specification is designed to give AI coding agents clear application structure and guardrails, while generated applications can be deployed without provider lock-in.
