AI Summary

An AI-assisted email campaign sent a $5 five-minute consulting offer to 1,013 recipients and generated $80 from 16 calls. The campaign produced a 39% open rate, a 3.5% click-through rate, 35 link clicks, and five email replies, including three people interested in buying. A six-figure consulting business would require the same conversion rates to carry over to a larger list, but the campaign had weaknesses: the $5 price signaled low value, the free reply option confused the paid offer, the email lacked urgency and proof, and no follow-up emails were sent. Higher pricing, clearer offers, testimonials, optimization, and repeated follow-ups could improve results.

Key Points

  • AI agents can manage an email-marketing account through model context protocol connections, including adding contacts, creating segments, writing emails, sending campaigns, and reviewing performance.
  • A randomized subset of contacts was selected in Google Sheets before being uploaded as a CSV; 999 contacts appeared in the email-marketing account.
  • A five-minute consulting offer charged $5 per booking, equivalent to $60 per hour if fully booked, with potential upsells to coaching packages, recurring services, higher-ticket services, and AI audits.
  • The consulting offer accepted paid bookings through a booking page with Stripe, allowed availability on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and prevented double-booking through calendar synchronization.
  • The email offered two options: booking a live five-minute session for $5 or replying to the email with a question.
  • The campaign sent 1,013 emails, achieved a 39% open rate, a 3.5% click-through rate, 35 link clicks, five email replies, and $80 in revenue.
  • The $80 came from 16 calls requiring 80 minutes of consulting time, or one hour and 20 minutes.
  • Sending the same campaign to a larger list could produce a six-figure consulting business if the stated percentages carried through.

00:00 All right, let's see how passive this actually is. I'm going to use a tool called OmniSend to see how much money I can make in 1 week sending a simple email, but I need AI agents to do all the work for me. And this is something that anyone in the world that has a knowledge about anything could be able to monetize just as I'm doing on this video here today.

00:19 Also, this has to be a six-figure business, not just any business, which means over $100,000 a year of profit. So, let's get started. Okay, step number one, go to the AI tool of your choice. It's going to be Gemini, Grok, ChatGPT, or Claude. I like Claude. So, I'm going to go into my Claude account, click on my name, then go to settings, then go to connectors, and then I'm going to click custom connectors, okay, right there, and I'm going to call it OmniSend, because that's the tool I'm going to use to send this email,

00:53 and the URL for this tool is right here, mcp.omnisend.com/mcp. Click continue, done, then click add, then it's going to want me to log in to OmniSend. I already have an account there. It's an email marketing tool, similar to Mailchimp, but like a thousand times better. I'm going to give it all read and write permissions, because I'm trusting like that, and then I'm going to click create chat.

01:16 But, I still need to add some email addresses to my OmniSend account. Where am I going to get these email addresses? Well, these are people in my network that I'm going to email, but I want to randomize them, because I'm only going to email a set limited number of people, and you'll understand why here in a minute, trust me. So, I'm going to use this formula in Google Sheets, equals rand open parentheses close parentheses, that assigns a perfectly randomized number to that row.

01:44 And then, I am going to filter A to Z or Z to A by that number. Why? Because that perfectly randomizes all of these email addresses, okay? So, then I've got a select few number of email addresses here. I'm going to hit download CSV, and this is my list. Now, I'm going to go back to Claude, add files and photos, go to the spreadsheet, and without even logging into Omnisend, I'm going to ask Claude to add those emails to an Omnisend segment for me.

02:19 Okay, always allow. It's just needing my approval for some of this stuff. While we're waiting, I'm going to use another tool called TidyCal, which is just a calendar booking software, and I'm going to create a 5-minute consulting calendar, like a booking link with a Stripe integration. What is this idea? I'm going to sell my knowledge to people that I know might want it.

02:39 The people on this list are people that like business ideas, or and or people that already own businesses, and they probably have business questions that I might be able to help them with. So, I'm offering 5 minutes of consulting for only $5. Now, that doesn't sound like but that's a dollar a minute, aka $60 an hour, and at a 40-hour work week, quote unquote, that's about $120,000 a year of pure profit, because I have no costs on this business.

03:06 I'm just selling my time. I'm consulting. But, I can also upsell coaching packages, recurring stuff, higher ticket stuff, AI audits, whatever. So, this is just my foot in the door. I'm getting paid to upsell. Pretty cool thing. Now, why am I doing this? Well, for the purposes of this video, I wanted to start a business that would make me money. And this is one of the most approachable business ideas ever, just consulting.

03:27 And you don't need a degree to consult. You don't need to know anything about consulting. You just need to know something about something to consult, and then find the people that want whatever it is it's in your brain. If you're really good at putting LEGOs together, or grading Pokémon cards, that might not seem like a high-value skill, but it is. It is, because there's a demand for it.

03:48 Vacuuming. You're really good at vacuuming, there is a demand for that. You could train people on how to vacuum really well. I'm using silly examples to make a point, but you get what I'm saying. You don't need a college degree, you don't need a ton of accolades, or an impressive resume to charge for your services. You just need to find people that have a demand for your knowledge, aka services.

04:07 Cool. I'll answer whatever question you have. 5-minute consulting. Duration of the meeting is 5 minutes. We're going to go to pricing. Charge $5 per booking. I integrated Stripe just with a couple clicks. No coupons allowed, and it's just going to be synced to my calendar cuz I use TidyCal for other stuff. Cool. There's the booking page. That's what it looks like.

04:29 And when someone clicks on it, they're going to go here. They're going to be forced to pay in order to book the meeting. And I do want to block off some times here because it looks like it's showing my entire calendar. So, I'm going to use this availability schedule. I don't want to start at 8:00 a.m. I'd rather start at 1:00 p.m. So, I'm only going to sell times on Monday, let's say, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1:00 to 5:00.

04:55 Okay? Okay. All of these other times will be blocked, and it's also going to pull from my actual calendar. So, it won't double-book me on anything else I have going on. Okay? So, I'm going to copy the URL of that booking link, and then let's go see what Claude is up to. Keep in mind, through this MCP, which means model context protocol, and really it's just a fancy way of saying you can use your favorite AI tool inside of any other tool in the world as long as it is compatible, which Omnisend is.

05:23 This removes the need for me to log in to Omnisend at all, and I can still use it and enjoy all the features of it. You can run your entire account from inside ChatGPT or Claude. You can understand your performance, build segments, read to it, write to it, all done through prompts, through your own natural language like I'm speaking now. Okay, Claude is asking me, "Who are these people?

05:41 They subscribed. What do you want to call them?" TKO newsletter. Cool. All right, now if I go over to my Omnisend account, you can see right there, 999 contacts. It's exactly what I uploaded without ever having to log in to Omnisend. I did it through Claude. Okay, so I also want Claude to write this email for me, write and send it. So, I just said, "Okay, I want to send them a simple email offering to give them 5 minutes of consulting for only $5, either through this booking link or via email.

06:09 Write that up to send to this list, please. Short and sweet, tell them I'm trying something new." Okay, here's the email. "Hey, trying something new. You get 5 minutes with me, I get 5 bucks. You ask me anything about your business, your idea, your next move, I give you my honest take fast. Two ways to do it. One, book a live 5-minute slot here. Two, just reply to this email and I'll answer from there.

06:27 No upsell, no pitch, I just want to see how many real problems I can help solve in 5 minutes at a time. That's it." I'm clicking on the link to make sure it works, and it works. Now, I could add an image to this, but I don't want to. I just want this to be plain text, one link for them to click on where they can buy, and I'm going to tell it what subject line to use.

06:44 I could ask it to use whatever it thinks is best, but I want to make it 5 bucks. Add a subject line that just says $5. Send it, baby. Okay, so it said, "Hey, I can't send this until there's a verified sender." That is a regulation, it's not Omnisend's choice. I can do that myself or I can ask Claude to do it. You already know what I'm going to do. I'm going to give it my personal email address and have it make that the verified sender.

07:04 So, I'm going to go into Omnisend, I'm going to go to store settings. So, I just told Claude, "Okay, it's verified, send the email now." One prompt and it verified it for me. Okay, and it is sent. I'm going to revisit this in 1 week to see how much money we made. Okay, it's been a week. Here's a little longer, different shirt, and the campaign is done, and I made some money.

07:25 Let's break it down, but let's ask Claude to break it down for us, actually. All right, I'm simply asking, "Tell me how my Omnisend campaign last week did." Okay, how cool is this? So, I also have Stripe connected through my Claude MCP, so it was able to cross-reference the clicks to the buyers and Stripe and put everything all in one chart. So, 1,013 emails sent, almost all of them were delivered, 39% of them were opened.

07:50 I had a 3 and 1/2% click-through rate, so 35 people clicked the links. I got five email replies, three of them were wanting to buy, asking me a question for $5, and then I had this many bookings and that much Stripe revenue. Ended up with 80 bucks. So, on 1,000 emails sent, not bad. That puts the revenue per recipient at like what? 8 cents? Not bad at all for one email.

08:15 And so, not including the time it took me to send this email, which was almost nothing, especially since I used the MCP, I'm going to make from these 16 calls $80, and it's going to take 80 minutes of my time, an hour and 20 minutes, which technically makes it a six-figure business. If I were to send this to my entire list and these percentages carried through, then it would be a six-figure consulting business at a ridiculously low rate.

08:39 And that's the thing with charging $5 for consulting, you do more harm than good. I did this cuz I didn't want to like sell something to my subscribers unnecessarily, and I wanted to prove a point, but it's an interesting business lesson. If you go to buy a hot dog from a vendor and it's only 25 cents, you probably don't want that hot dog. Something's probably wrong with it.

09:01 But, if it's three bucks, it's like, "Yeah, that's what a hot dog should cost." If it's 10 bucks, it's like, >> [snorts] >> "The hot dog must must be really, really good." And then your confirmation bias kicks in. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but pricing is a very, very important, yet finicky thing. So, I kind of want to do another video where I send out an email that offers like $1,000 for an hour of consulting and see how that does because just think about it.

09:23 I sent this to 1,000 people. Do you think one of them is willing to pay that? Pretty decent chance. If so, then I made 12x on the same email send that I would have made selling my time for only a dollar a minute. And also, I only have to deal with one person for an hour instead of 16 people for 80 minutes. But, let's go a step further. I want to know what Claude thinks I could have done better for this campaign.

09:46 By the way, I'm thrilled with 3.5% click-through rate. 39% open rate was a little lower than I would have liked to see. I'm usually in like the mid-40s, but I didn't really take the time to optimize it. Didn't do a bunch of AB tests. Didn't send it at the right time of day. So, with a little more tweaking, I could have done a bit better here. Here's some things I said I could have done better.

10:04 There was no reason to act now, no scarcity play. The free path ate the paid path. I guess it was confusing. Some people thought they could just reply to the email and get an answer for free, even though that's not what I meant. And $5 signals junk. That's exactly what I just said about pricing. It sounds like a gag. No proof, no testimonials, no reviews, no specificity.

10:24 Booking link is a naked URL. And I never followed up, which is like the most important thing with any sales or marketing process, especially in email marketing. Follow up, follow up, follow up. I could have done that so easily, and I didn't. My wife is hosting a children's market in 2 weeks, and I was just talking to her about this like 4 hours ago.

10:42 Babe, email those vendors more than feels reasonable. Because if they're not going to go anyway, then they might get annoyed. Who cares? They're not your customer. But, if they're on the fence, then every time you email them increases the likelihood that they'll come on your side of the fence. And what do you know? She sent another email, and she got four more sign-ups for the kids market.

10:59 So, it works. Follow up. Be annoying. There's a lot of competition on our inbox and for our attention right now, more so than ever. So, I just re-prompted Claude. I like points 1, 3, and 4. Make three new emails that incorporate all three, and post the drafts in Omnisend. In other words, don't just read what's in there or tell me what to paste over there.

11:21 Show me what you're putting over there, and then actually create the drafts in Omnisend. And then, either I can bounce over there and click send, or I can say, "All right, send it." Keep in mind, guys, over 150,000 brands use Omnisend. It's an amazing piece of software. On average, their brands make $79 for every $1 they spend on Omnisend. So, if your account's 30 bucks a month, 30 * 79 is $2,370.

11:47 The average brand would generate $2,370 from that $30 a month plan. All right, and look at that, when I go over to Omnisend, there they are, all three emails. Boom, there's one. Boom, there's two. And boom, there's three. You guys already know that if you're interested in a newsletter or a personal newsletter, personal brand, or hosting your podcast, Beehiiv is the way to go.

12:09 But when it comes to e-commerce email marketing, there's nothing like Omnisend. They support the podcast, I support them. Just to recap what just happened here, last week I sat down with Claude, I connected Omnisend to it through the MCP, and I generated 80 bucks by sending one quick email to a fraction of a percent of my email list. It's as easy as chatting with your favorite AI agent. So, use promo code Kerner, k o e r n e r, for 30% off all paid plans for the first 30 months.
