Tool Open source
A Rust library for creating and reading specially crafted .tar.gz archives with embedded chapter-boundary information. A chapter contains zero or more consecutive tar entries; chapter markers are encoded as valid empty gzip blocks with distinctive Huffman code alphabets, allowing readers to skip groups of entries in constant time without decompressing intervening data and to decompress separate chapters concurrently. Archives remain readable by existing tools as ordinary tar.gz files, and archives without chapter metadata are treated as one chapter.
