Tool Open source
Clint Gecko is an open-source Android browser based on Firefox's GeckoView engine. It supports installing Firefox extensions from the add-on store or XPI files, background audio and video playback, reader mode, incognito browsing, and separate profiles with independent cookies, logins, and site data.
Its built-in Advanced Download Manager provides multi-threaded and multi-part downloads, pausing and resuming, scheduling, speed limits, and custom download locations. A media-capture feature detects video, audio, and subtitle streams, including HLS/M3U8 and DASH streams, and can download detected media.
The app is built with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Material 3. The project says it opts out of GeckoView and Mozilla telemetry and has no backend, analytics, or data-collection servers. It requires Android 8.0 or later, is distributed through APK releases, and its source code is licensed under GPLv3.
