Tool Open source
Eidos is a private, self-hosted file-search system that lets users search across computers, servers, virtual machines, archives, and network storage without first remembering where a file is located. The project is Windows-first and catalogs NTFS and SMB sources, indexing file names and contents while retaining stale results when sources go offline.
Its intended design connects file identity, location, freshness, related copies, and surrounding context without moving files into a vendor cloud or separate repository. The README describes the project as under active development: several capabilities remain planned, APIs, schemas, and query syntax may change, and no packaged release is available yet.
