Himekuri

Himekuri is a macOS menu-bar calendar that puts a Japanese page-a-day tear-off calendar on the desktop. Its top sheet is simulated as an 11×14 Verlet-integrated grid with inextensible distance and bending constraints, then rendered through an animated warp; users pull or flip the sheet to tear it along the staple seam, with the torn page inheriting the gesture's motion and falling off-screen. Tearing is permanently irreversible in release builds. The app offers seven print styles, including Shōwa, Minimal Swiss Grid, Brutalist Heavy, Koyomi, Huangli, and Tong Sheng, and supports floating, normal-window, and desktop-pinned display modes. Its calendar data includes Japanese eras, rokuyō, lunar dates and leap months, sexagenary years, zodiac animals, moon phases, solar terms, and festivals. Signed, notarized builds are distributed as a DMG, with updates through Sparkle; the repository describes it as an early 0.1.x project with no automated tests and limited testing on one Mac.
