Homelable

Homelable is a self-hosted homelab infrastructure visualizer that builds interactive network diagrams and monitors device status. Its network scanner runs Nmap service scans against configured CIDR ranges, placing discovered devices in a queue for approval, hiding, or ignoring; it also imports infrastructure from Proxmox, Zigbee, and Z-Wave. Health checks can use ping or TCP probes and health APIs, while diagrams support floor plans, multiple canvases, customizable device styles, and rack layouts with mounted equipment and port-to-port patch cables. It can be installed from pre-built Docker images, as a Proxmox LXC, or from source, and includes an MCP server for AI assistants.

What Homelable is used for

3 uses taken from transcripts — each links to the moment in the video.

  • A self-hosted infrastructure visualizer that turns a home lab into an interactive network diagram with live status. It discovers devices with Nmap, supports Zigbee topology imports, provides health checks, and offers a read-only live view and MCP server.

  • A published home-lab configuration showing a Talos Kubernetes cluster on Proxmox provisioned with Terraform and reconciled by Argo CD. It includes networking, SSO, observability, and automatically generated architecture diagrams.

  • Automatically builds and maintains a home-lab network diagram by scanning the network and pulling device information from systems such as Proxmox, Zigbee, MQTT, and Z-Wave.
