Tool Open source
Horizon is an unofficial, open-source reimplementation of Minecraft: Java Edition in Rust. It runs as a native game through the Horizon launcher, reads worlds in Minecraft's format, reproduces vanilla world generation and game rules, and requires the user's own legally obtained copy of Minecraft: Java Edition; it contains no Minecraft code, assets, or data. The project checks behavior against vanilla with differential harnesses and supports single-player worlds, resource and data packs, controller input, optional graphics and navigation features, offline-mode multiplayer, and a Rust-to-WebAssembly mod system. Java mod JARs are not supported. The launcher installs and updates the game, can manage Horizon servers and modpack profiles, and the distribution includes horizon-ctl, a command-line and MCP interface for controlling the game programmatically.
