It provides ecommerce software for managing products and product information, storefronts, checkout, and merchant operations, and can serve as an owned direct-to-consumer sales channel that retains customer relationships, email lists, and business data. Affirm is a consumer-financing and payments service that lets shoppers pay for purchases over time through installment loans. Its payment options include Pay in 4 interest-free plans and longer plans with lower payments; the service states that customers see their total cost upfront and that it does not charge fees. Affirm also provides a merchant-facing platform intended to support checkout conversion and create demand, rather than only satisfy existing demand.
