XERJ is a local AI search engine and Elasticsearch-compatible server that automatically indexes folders for code search, RAG, security audits, log analysis, and agent memory. Its autoindexer detects datasets and file types without a user-defined schema or ingestion pipeline; source code is parsed with tree-sitter into AST-aware records containing symbols, full text, and line numbers, while documents, logs, PDFs, SQLite databases, CSVs, and other formats are indexed into typed, queryable datasets. A separately distributed Rust MCP server lets compatible coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Windsurf list connections, browse tables, execute SQL, and open tables in DBX; access can be restricted to read-only, safe-write, or high-risk-write modes. The project also provides a CLI for terminal and agent workflows, a signed and sandboxed plugin system with Go and TypeScript SDKs, encrypted credential storage, SSH tunnels, and Docker-based self-hosting. codebase-memory-mcp is an MCP server from DeusData that indexes a codebase into a persistent local knowledge graph for AI coding agents.
