jrnl is an open-source journaling and note-taking application for the command line. It lets users create, search, filter, and view journal entries, with support for timestamps, tags, favorites, and multiple journals. Entries are stored as human-readable plain text and can also be encrypted with AES; entries can be supplied directly on the command line or composed in an external editor.
