Madeira

Madeira is an open-source research project for running x86-64 Windows PC games on non-jailbroken iPhones. It combines ARM64EC Wine, FEX-Emu for x86-64-to-ARM64 translation, and DXMT for translating D3D11 to Metal, packaging them with wineserver as a thread inside a single Mach process on iOS.

Overview

The project is sideloaded because it requires JIT with a debugger attached. It uses an Apple ID for signing; free-account provisioning profiles expire after seven days, requiring the app to be rebuilt and reinstalled, while the app container preserves prefixes and save data. The repository reports playable results for Thumper and ULTRAKILL, with other titles reaching gameplay with limitations, and describes the project as subject to rough edges, title-specific issues, and breaking changes.

Madeira is licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later, with separate licensing terms for upstream components and project forks. It is built from several chains covering Wine, ARM64EC modules, FEX, DXMT, and the iOS application.
