Noty is a native macOS sticky-notes app built with Swift, SwiftUI, and AppKit. Notes rest as a pill on the screen edge and fan out into tabs when the pointer reaches it, avoiding floating windows and a Dock icon. It supports inline checkbox tasks, quick capture, search, archiving, Markdown editing and export, import, multiple displays, customizable global shortcuts, and automation through a noty:// URL scheme.
Notes are stored in a local SQLite database, with note bodies encrypted using AES-GCM through CryptoKit; titles, colours, and timestamps remain in plaintext. The app requires macOS 15 or later, does not require an account or system permissions, and reports no server, analytics, telemetry, or tracking SDK use. It is distributed as a macOS application and DMG, is MIT-licensed, and is not sandboxed or notarized according to the repository.
