Tool Open source
plMail is a self-hosted mail client with a calendar alongside it. It connects existing IMAP, Gmail, and Outlook mailboxes, synchronizes them into a PostgreSQL database, and presents them in one inbox with threaded conversations, shared labels, full-text search, filters, and sending aliases. It is not a mail server and does not receive internet mail or host a domain.
New mail is delivered through IMAP IDLE, Gmail and Outlook push, and browser notifications. The calendar supports two-way synchronization with Google, Microsoft, and CalDAV, including invitations, drag-to-move scheduling, sharing, and booking links. Optional language-model features can use Ollama or an OpenAI-compatible endpoint to search by meaning, draft replies, summarize threads, and sort messages; these features are disabled by default and can be run against a model on the user's own network.
The project provides Docker images for linux/amd64 and linux/arm64, a TrueNAS app, and companion Android and iOS applications that connect to a plMail server. It is released under the AGPL-3.0 license.
