RomM is a self-hosted ROM manager and player for organizing an owned game collection. It scans game folders, parses filename tags and naming schemes, and enriches entries with metadata from IGDB, Screenscraper, and MobyGames, with artwork from SteamGridDB. The interface supports metadata for more than 400 platforms, custom tags, multi-disk games, DLCs, mods, hacks, patches, and manuals. RomM can display RetroAchievements progress and play compatible games in a browser through EmulatorJS and RuffleRS. It supports browsing, uploading, updating, and deleting games through a web browser, sharing a library with limited permissions, and official apps or integrations for Playnite, Android, and custom firmware handhelds.

retrobios is an open-source tool for building and installing source-verified BIOS and firmware packs for emulation platforms including RetroArch, Batocera, Recalbox, Lakka, RetroPie, EmuDeck, RetroBat, RetroDECK, RomM, BizHawk, ROCKNIX, and MiSTer FPGA. It reads emulator source code to identify files loaded by each emulator, cross-references those requirements with platform BIOS lists, records file hashes and expected sizes where available, identifies gaps, and generates platform-, emulator-, system-, or region-specific packs. Its installer detects the target platform, downloads missing files, places them in the platform's expected directory, and verifies checksums; Python scripts can also generate packs and validate existing collections. The repository includes a documentation site and JSON, CSV, and SQLite metadata exports. The scripts and tooling are MIT-licensed, while the BIOS and firmware files are third-party system software distributed for personal backup, archival, and emulation interoperability.

ScreenScraper is a community-run database and media repository for retro video games that collects and redistributes game metadata and media assets under Creative Commons. It provides downloadable media and metadata intended for multi-system gaming front-ends and community projects.

SuperAstra is a SNES-themed desktop companion that uses natural-language prompts to investigate and alter a running game through BizHawk. Its agent receives screenshots, cartridge identity data, emulator registers, memory scans, hardware-domain reads, controller probes, and checkpoint results; it can search cartridge data, identify game-memory structures, create routines or guarded patches, test changes, and retain cartridge-specific findings in a local notebook. Each committed mutation can be undone through emulator checkpoints, while named experiment checkpoints support controlled trials that restore the player's prior state. The prototype runs on Windows or Linux with Python and Tkinter, BizHawk using its BSNES SNES core, a ROM, and an OpenAI API key configured for the stated model; it also includes limited local Mario shortcuts that do not require an API key. It does not patch the original ROM file, create exportable ROM patches, expand ROM capacity, or guarantee success on unfamiliar games. The original source is MIT-licensed.

Omakade is a local-first Linux game library for Omarchy, developed as an independent community project. It discovers games from installed Steam, Lutris, Heroic, Faugus, RetroArch, Epic, GOG, and Amazon sources, then presents them in a cover-focused library without modifying launcher data. Games are launched through their owning platform, while discovery, browsing, artwork, local Steam achievements, search, favorites, collections, tags, completion states, source filters, and controller navigation work offline. Optional Steam Web API synchronization adds public owned games and ready-to-install views, and optional IGDB credentials provide critic aggregates and game-length estimates. It is distributed for Omarchy and Arch as a package and stores its library in a local SQLite database.
