Santa

Santa is an open-source binary and file access authorization system for macOS, developed by North Pole Security. Its system extension monitors executions and file access, evaluates requests against a local database, and records events; a GUI agent notifies users about blocked operations, a background service synchronizes configuration with a remote server, and a command-line utility manages the system. In MONITOR mode, binaries are allowed unless blocked while launches are logged; in LOCKDOWN mode, only listed binaries may run. Rules can use code-signing attributes such as CDHash, certificate, TeamID, or SigningID, as well as regular-expression-based paths, with rules evaluated by specificity. Allowed binaries are cached, and userland components authenticate one another over XPC by checking matching signing certificates.
