Vorssaint

Vorssaint is a free, open-source macOS menu-bar toolkit that combines utilities commonly distributed as separate apps, including per-application volume controls, output and microphone switching, system monitoring, network statistics, app and window switching, window snapping, Dock previews, clipboard history, text snippets, a file shelf, and an app uninstaller. Features can be installed or removed individually; removing one stops that feature from loading, while reinstalling restores its previous settings. The toolkit runs locally without an account, telemetry, subscription, audio driver, or setup requirement for its volume mixer, and requests only the permissions required by the selected features. It is distributed as a Swift/SwiftUI macOS application under an open-source repository.

VoiceStudio is an open-source, fully local desktop application for voice cloning and design, text-to-speech, transcription, dictation, video dubbing, and long-form audio production. It runs on macOS Apple Silicon, Windows, Linux, or Docker and keeps voices, projects, settings, and generated files on the machine by default. The application combines a Tauri desktop shell, a React and Vite interface, and a local FastAPI backend with registries for multiple TTS and ASR engines. Its workflows can transcribe and translate video, preserve speaker assignments, synthesize replacement speech, render audiobook chapters, separate vocals, diarize speakers, process batch jobs, and route work to CPU, CUDA, Apple Silicon MPS/MLX, ROCm, or optional remote workers. The local workflow requires no account, API key, subscription, or usage meter, although remote workers, configured external ASR endpoints, analytics, and other network-backed functions are opt-in. BetterVoice is an experimental, open-source macOS menu-bar app for local voice dictation with screen context. It transcribes speech locally and captures the full display whenever the user circles an area with the pointer, marking each capture with a blue pointer trail and pulse while preserving multiple references in order. The app inserts the transcript into the selected text field when macOS permits it and pastes captured images when both speech and screen context are available. It supports quick notes and long explanations, configurable microphones, dictation languages, circle-detection thresholds, and keyboard shortcuts. English uses a local Parakeet model by default, while other languages use a separately downloaded multilingual model; an optional English-only grammar-cleanup feature runs locally through quantized ONNX weights.

Screendrop is a native, local-first macOS menu bar application for capturing, annotating, recording, editing, compressing, and sharing screenshots and screen recordings. It captures displays, windows, or selected areas; provides configurable hotkeys and after-capture workflows; and includes a floating preview stack, offline History, non-destructive annotation with redaction and mockup effects, and a recording studio with separate screen, camera, microphone, system-audio, cursor, click, and keystroke data. Recording projects support timeline edits, zooms, reconstructed cursors, camera layouts, captions, transcript-based cuts, social aspect ratios, and reusable style presets. On-device speech recognition provides transcription, karaoke-style captions, filler-word removal, silence trimming, and a notch-native teleprompter. Optional self-hosted sharing uses a Cloudflare Worker, R2, and D1: the Worker authenticates uploads, stores media and metadata, and returns share links for screenshot viewers or Loom-style recording pages with transcripts, comments, playback controls, and scrub previews. Captures, projects, annotation sidecars, and transcripts remain on the Mac unless explicitly uploaded, and there is no central Screendrop account or hosted server. The project is distributed as a DMG or Homebrew cask, requires macOS 26.4 or newer according to its README, and is dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0 Universal.

Cyclop is a native macOS SwiftUI/AppKit utility that turns the MacBook notch into a hover-activated panel. It provides media controls for players and browser tabs visible to macOS, a drag-and-drop file shelf, clipboard history, reusable text snippets, calendar entries with meeting join buttons, offline English–Russian translation using macOS facilities, a teleprompter, and scratch notes. The panel unfolds when the pointer reaches the notch and collapses when it leaves; it can also open automatically during file dragging and remain open while a teleprompter script scrolls. The project is distributed as free, open-source software with no external dependencies, requires macOS 15 or newer, and needs one permission granted during first launch.
