Tool Open source · GPL-2.0
wifit3 is a standalone USB Wi-Fi auditing tool for Linux, Windows, and macOS. It requires a supported USB wireless adapter and uses pure Python with PyUSB and Textual rather than aircrack-ng or reaver.
The tool bypasses the operating system's native Wi-Fi stack through lightweight Python ports of Linux wireless drivers that control adapters over USB bulk and control transfers. It provides channel-hopping reconnaissance across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, multi-adapter packet capture, access-point and client identification, hidden-network correlation, and packet-rate monitoring. Its auditing functions include WPA/WPA2 handshake and PMKID capture, targeted deauthentication, WPA3 downgrade attacks, WPS PixieDust, push-button and PIN recovery, and WEP techniques such as ARP replay, ChopChop, fake authentication, and PTW key recovery. Captures can be exported as PCAP or HC22000 files.
Prebuilt executables are available for Windows, Linux, and macOS, and the project can also be run or built from source with uv and PyInstaller. It configures the required device access through udev and modprobe rules on Linux, WinUSB on Windows, and an authorization prompt on macOS. The code is licensed under GPLv2; bundled vendor firmware is distributed under the respective manufacturers' licenses. The project states that it is intended only for networks and equipment owned by the user or explicitly authorized for auditing.
