Epilude Narrator is a text-to-speech app for Mac that reads selected text from Mac applications and accepts documents, public web pages, copied text, images, and screen captures. It imports PDF, EPUB, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, HTML, and RTF files, including scanned PDFs, and stores narrations in a library.
Users can start or pause reading with the Option-Command-N hotkey or macOS Services menu. A floating player highlights the current sentence, word, or both, supports sentence-by-sentence navigation and speeds from 0.5× to 3×, and includes RSVP mode, which displays one word at a time. The app offers an on-device EP-1 voice whose text and audio remain on the Mac, as well as cloud voices that send text to Epilude for synthesis; narrations can optionally be placed on the web for access from another device or sharing.
