Open Archiver is a self-hosted, open-source platform for archiving, storing, indexing, and searching email from Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, IMAP inboxes, PST files, zipped EML files, and Mbox files. It supports bulk imports and ongoing synchronization, and provides full-text search across messages and attachments with filters and thread discovery.
Messages are stored as standard EML files with deduplication, compression, and encryption at rest. Storage can use a local filesystem or an S3-compatible object store. The system records file hashes during ingestion and provides integrity reports, retention policies, and an immutable audit trail for access and activity tracking.
The platform is deployed with Docker Compose and uses SvelteKit, Node.js with Express and TypeScript, BullMQ with Redis or Valkey for asynchronous jobs, Meilisearch for indexing, and PostgreSQL for metadata, users, and audit logs.
