Tool Open source
convt is an open-source local file-conversion desktop app and command-line tool from opencoredev. It keeps images, video, audio, PDFs, and documents on the user's machine, registering available native engines such as FFmpeg, LibreOffice, PDFium, image, and resvg, then selecting a conversion route. When no direct conversion is available, it can chain up to three steps. The desktop app provides right-click menus on macOS and Linux, while the CLI supports batch conversion, recursive processing, page ranges, output directories, format discovery, and engine inspection. A document pack enables Word, Excel, and PowerPoint conversion; convt also offers a paid cloud API and TypeScript SDK. The source is licensed under GNU AGPL v3, while signed desktop builds, convt Cloud, and the API are paid.

Converts just about any file from the command line, entirely locally: it checks which conversion engines you have (FFmpeg, LibreOffice, PDFIM), picks a route, and chains up to three steps when nothing converts directly.
